Journey to the West : Wu Kong

Set 500 years before the traditional Journey to the West tale, the story follows Wu Kong, a powerful and unruly celestial being born from a divine stone on Mount Huaguo. Possessing immense strength and a fiercely independent spirit, Wu Kong refuses to accept the predetermined fate imposed by the gods of Heaven.

Wu Kong, however, openly challenges the rigid system of fate and divine hierarchy. His rebellious nature and unmatched strength draw the ire of the Jade Emperor and celestial authorities. As tensions rise, Wu Kong becomes a symbol of defiance against oppressive destiny.

Eventually, his insubordination leads to a fierce celestial war, where Wu Kong wages battle not for power, but for freedom — his own and that of those around him. Betrayals, sacrifices, and revelations shape his journey, culminating in his punishment: banishment and imprisonment under Mount Five Fingers by Buddha himself.
